Triggers with Checkboxes?

Hi All,
Triggers on my checkbox state do not seem to respond?
I have them set up properly to add points to my variable when "Selected."
But need to subtract them when (de-selected) to "Normal" state. But the "Normal" state will not fire its trigger. Why not? It works on "down" state, so what gives?
It seems the checkbox may be changing to some other unknown state when de-selected.
Is this a known bug, and if so, any good workarounds? .story file attached. Using Storyline 3. Thanks in advance for any advice! :)

I'm particularly unsure if this is a bug or an expected behavior, but it would seem that the best workaround is to use "is selected" and "is not selected" as a condition.
Ended up being exactly what I did! Glad that was the correct solve, thanks so much for the reply.
