Trouble With Web Objects
Jul 09, 2014
Hi everybody!
I'm trying to figure out why I cannot get web objects to work right. I'm trying to find a way to have interactive animations that can work for everyone- including iPad users, so Flash is out. The answer is probably HTML5, so I ran a small test animation through Swiffy (Google's swf -> HTML5 conversion tool) and tried to insert as a web object.
However, no matter how it's exported (to CD, to Web, everything the help guide told me to do) when I run the test story it just won't display anything. Also telling is that it won't show up when I hit preview within Storyline, however when I open the object it launches in any browser fine.
Has anyone had a similar problem? Am I missing something obvious here? Thanks in advance for the help!

Do you run the published content locally (on your hardrive)? In that case, the web object is probably blocked by browser security settings. Try uploading the web-published content to some server (or an alternative like DropBox or GoogleDrive) and test again.
Thanks for the response!
I uploaded it to GoogleDrive, and still can't seem to get it to work. It's having the same problem, just not showing up. This is what I'm using for a tester.
Hm, this works for me, see here. I tested on Safari (iPad), the MobilePlayer App and desktop browser.
Oh, okay, that's interesting! I've found that the only way I can get it to work is when the module and the image are hosted on the same server, which normally wouldn't be a problem but the way our learning system works it's modules only. Did you use the GoogleDrive link directly or did you rehost it?
Also, did it work for you within the preview?
