While testing my course for use on my iPad, I am unable to get the course to launch the mobile player from Safari although it works fine with Chrome and Firefox. Is this to be expected or am I missing something?
It should launch from Safari, as that's the browser supported in iOS. What iOS version are you running? What happens when you try to launch the course link from your mobile device? Do you know what AMP version you're using as well?
My iPad is on iOS 9.3.5. When I tap on the App Store icon in Safari nothing happens (unlike the download in FF and Chrome).
Also as I test various courses on player (using FF & Chrome), I get different versions of the player - sometimes I get it with the 'offline' switch and sometimes I get one without. It doesn't seem to make a difference whether I download the player first or download it at the time of launching a course. In all cases the courses have been been published to include offline on the mobile player.
Sorry, but I don't know what you mean by AMP version
The good news is that I've now managed to get Safari to work . I have to hold the 'Launch' button down until Safari provides the option to 'open in Articulate'. Clunky but it works!
However, I still have the issue of the player not having the offline switch facility.
Wahoo! I also wanted to say you'll want to make sure you're on the latest update of Storyline, and the latest version of the mobile player. You'll see with iOS 8 there were some issues.
Version 3.25 is the latest version of AMP, so that's great - and I just wanted to confirm you were also using the latest update of Storyline 2 to publish the output. The latest update is Update 11.
Sorry if I missed that you were using Storyline 1. We did add support for iOS9 in Update 10 - so you'd want to make sure you were publishing with that latest update. I wonder if you could share a link to the course for us to take a look at and test it out as well?
Hi Ashley. Thanks. Go here. The username and password is Chris (case sensitive). Then when you get to the course 'ELN Demo course' follow the attached image sequence (more or less!).I used Safari on my iPad to show the rather clunky 'Launch' procedure ass well. I hope it makes sense!
As a matter of interest, I received the correct version of the AMP (i. e. with off-line option switch) the very first time I downloaded it from the App Store. However, because I wanted to test whether the AMP would download at the time of the course 'launch'.
I deleted the AMP from my iPad and tried to download it from the course but from then on I only received a version without the off-line switch, regardless of whether I download from the course 'launch' or directly from the App Store beforehand.
Just to complicate things, I've tried the same test with my Android tablet and although the AMP installed OK, the course does not recognise a player (i.e. no 'Launch' button appears) on the device (Android 5.1.1).
I've checked the publishing details in Articulate and the settings are checked for mobile players and downloading for off-line use, and the LMS API is Tincan. Tincan is also active in the LMS.
I'm demonstrating the course at a conference on 2 Nov where the off-line version is the major selling point, so your help in resolving this is much appreciated!
So if you're just looking to demo elements of it, I'd look at publishing a copy that wasn't for Tin Can and host it within another web server or LMS and then you could use the offline option.
Ah, I see what you mean. The documentation confused me because it refers
to viewing* (see below) using the AMP which I assumed included off-line
viewing. It also makes a reference to Tin Can (see below) from which I
assumed meant it would track data from the off-line course once the iPad
reconnected to the internet. To be honest 'viewing' my course via AMP
doesn't really add anything to the users' experience. (It is strange
thought that I had the 'offline' facility working from the LMS at the
beginning - must have been beginner's luck!)
Since the AMP can be used for web or LMS I could see how that would happen! The AMP would be the only way to allow it offline though - so if you needed it in terms of demoing outside of normal environment or at a conference, that'd be where it may work for your needs.
Hi Ashley. The good news is that I now got my course running both on ad off line on an iPad. Thanks for ur help. However, I can't get my Android (5.1.1) Tablet to launch the AMP even though it's installed. I get the 'Play' instead of the 'Launch' button.
All the discussions about Storyline not officially Android supported and feature requests are showing as 2 years ago. Surely there's been some progress since then?

Hi Ashley
I've got AMP Version 3.25 and there don't appear to be any updates for it.
Thoughts?
Hi Chris,
Version 3.25 is the latest version of AMP, so that's great - and I just wanted to confirm you were also using the latest update of Storyline 2 to publish the output. The latest update is Update 11.
I have Articulate 1 Update 10. I've looked at Articulate 2 but can't find anything in it that is useful to me.

Hi Chris,
Sorry for the delay - I'm traveling today but will be sure to check this
out in the AM! I'll let you know as soon as I'm able to take a look.
Hi Ashley

Hi Chris,
Well that's the key right there! You can let learners download Articulate Storyline courses to their iPads for offline viewing in the Articulate Mobile Player app. However, the Available Offline switch won't work for Tin Can API content. The Articulate Mobile Player app requires an Internet connection to track Tin Can API content in an LMS.
So if you're just looking to demo elements of it, I'd look at publishing a copy that wasn't for Tin Can and host it within another web server or LMS and then you could use the offline option.
You'll also need to have wifi initially to download the content.

Hi Chris,
Storyline 1 doesn't have Android support, but it was introduced in Storyline 2 and Studio '13.
Bah!
