Unable to send Email from the Publishing option

Feb 22, 2015

Hi, I'm unable to send an email with the Publishing option and am getting an error message as attached. Is there a setting I can change in storyline or is it an issue that I need to ask our IT support system to sort out please?

Thank you

Tanya

Hi Tanya,

It's likely an issue you'll need to contact your IT team about and ensure you're able to sync to your email client. Also, you could choose to zip the file and then attach that to an email regularly. Depending on the total file size, email may not be your best option to send it along to a colleague either. Are you sending along for someone to review or to your LMS/hosting provider to upload to a site?

OK thanks, I'll get on to IT about it.

The file size is too big to package up and zip and email so I was trying the Web Publishing option to see if that made it a smaller file size to email. I'm sending it for someone to review. It has lots of video screencasts in it - what is the best, smallest file size way to do this?

Thank you

Hi Tanya,

I don't believe that publishing to Web vs. any of the other publishing options will drastically change the file size of your published output or zipped folder. If you're sharing it with someone to review what you may want to do instead is share a copy that is in the intended publish environment so that the reviewer can test it within that set up - as testing the published content locally could cause security issues. You can read more about that here where there are also a few options for uploading your content to another server for testing purposes.

Also, just an FYI replying via email includes your signature here in the forums and you're welcome to edit the post to remove that information.
