Update 3 will not pass correct completion data to Saba 5.4.3 HELP!
Oct 02, 2013
I'm in the same boat as Cate Alexander who posted earlier. I have Update 3. When I publish to LMS and place in SABA 5.4.3 the course opens fine, runs, bookmarks, then when I go back in and finish (or don't finish) it marks it as failed with a red box. My transcript reads successful even if I fail.
If I pass it works fine if I complete the course all at one shot.
If I fail it marks me as successful with a status of Failed if I complete all at one shot
It's all wonky if I do mutiple attempts and I have the latest .js file.
A Gerry someone in Woodbury MN (sorry Gerry didn't get your last name) gave Cate some great advice on how to fix this, but it doesn't seem to be affective for Saba 5.4.3. Gerry referred to Saba 5.4.2.
Anyway, since this doesn't work right now, HOW DO I BACK OUT MY UPDATE 3 and go back to Update 2? This is disasterous for my customers.
We here at Kaiser Permanente have adopted Storyline, but with this we will need to stop using it - I am in the LMS group who supports our developers and the LMS. I'm hoping there is an answer. I'm hoping even more that Cate and I are just missing something here.

OK the plot thickens... : )
When I publish regularly like I normally would (not using the work around mentioned above.)
Pass/Fail, Using a results slide, and Is Scoring(in the LMS)
I can get a successful and an unsuccessful, but the rub is (and this is where the help desk calls will come) IF I make multiple attempts AND say I want to RESUME where I left off - that's where it shows me as failed and moves it to transcript prematurely.
If I do NOT resume where I left off, it seems ok. hmmmm Can I turn that off somehow? or is that part of the LMS? I wonder.
Hi Fran,
Have you reviewed this post on troubleshooting common LMS issues? One thing I always like to recommend is testing within SCORM Cloud as described at the bottom of that blog. This will help you determine if it's a issue within the file or within Saba itself.
In regards to your second question, you can change the resume behavior as described here.
Thanks Ashley - you are all very responsive as usual. But I'm still having the problem. Most of what was in those links, I've tried already. The bottom line issue is on reentry the moment they hit the RESUME button, the course goes to transcript with a failure no matter how many slides they have seen or whether they have made it to the quiz or not. I've tried pass/fail and pass/incomplete and it doesn't seem to matter whether they even get to the quiz. As soon as the resume is pressed, the course seems doomed to be placed onto the transcript. It works great if they go straight through - Pass / Fail reports properly. And when the user reenters the course from their transcript and completes the quiz successfully, they get a successful. But people do not understand that something is on the transcript before they have completed it. Any other suggestions? I know we could just put never resume, but for some of my developers that would not be an option because of the length of their course.
I appreciate everyone's help.
and OH BY THE WAY, this is only an issue when there is a quiz and a results slide. When I have no quiz and it's all pages viewed, NO PROBLEM ... I can resume until the cows come home and it stays in their enrollments just fine. So this only happens if the course has a quiz.
Does that shed any light?
Hi Fran,
If you're able to replicate the issue when testing within SCORM Cloud, please let us know and share your file with our Support team so that they can take a further look. Also, if you'd prefer to revert back to update 2, they'll be able to get you that information.
OK, so in the cloud it seems to work as I would think. So it must be something that is getting passed to my Saba 5.4.3 that it doesn't like. AND I'm crying now.... it seems that update 2 had the same issue. Resume passes something to the LMS that is some kind of completion.
no one has reported to me so I think people must be going through their courses in one sitting. Since this seems to be tied to my LMS do you think I should still send it to your support team?
Hi Fran,
Thanks for confirming that things work as you expect within SCORM, I'd share that information with your Saba team and see if they're able to help you figure out the settings on their end.
