Upgrading from Storyline 2 to 3

Good morning,

Our company currently use Storyline 2 and are looking to upgrade to Storyline 3. We have a few questions we would like answered if possible:

Can anyone give feedback on 3 and also any benefits it has Storyline 2?

What are the cost implications of upgrading from 2 to 3?

What implications does the upgrade have on current e-learning produced in Storyline 2?

Hi David!

All great questions you are asking here! The first things that come to mind for me in terms of benefits are the responsive player for smartphones and tablets, the ability to publish to HTML5 first/only as opposed to Flash, dial interactions (very cool, check out an example here), and some great new trigger actions.  I'm sure others have ideas as well!  This chart compares the features that are available in each version of Storyline, including Storyline 3, as well as Storyline 360, the latest version that comes with Articulate 360.

As far upgrading your existing courses: Storyline 1 and 2 projects can be upgraded to Storyline 3, but Storyline 3 projects can’t be opened or edited with Storyline 1 and 2. 

This article describes changes and improvements you’ll see after upgrading an existing course to Storyline 3.

We will make a back up copy of your Storyline 1 or 2 course once you upgrade it to Storyline 3, so that the original can still be opened in an earlier version. Any edits that you make in Storyline 3 won't be available in the earlier version.
