Upload a course to Moodle

Feb 27, 2013

Does anyone know how to upload a course from Storyline to Moodle so the content will be available for use?

I published a test course using the LMS option and SCORM 1.2, and chose the option zip, and  now the course contents are in a folder.

Thanks,

Ejuana

Hi Ejuana,

The steps for this are slightly different for each LMS. Ask your LMS administrator if you need help with the specifics of uploading, launching, or tracking your course. I've tried to look at the steps posted specifically for Moodle, but looks like I need an account to view the posts. You may want to try searching around their forums or site and see if you're able to find some instructions.

Also, I know many Storyline developers use this LMS, maybe some of them can pop in with some tips

Louise,

I have only published a scorm 1.2 package to my local drive using Storyline, and and now I am trying to figure out the steps to upload the whole zipped folder to Moodle. Do I need to create an activity first? (I'm new using Moodle too and I'm the administrator!). I can look for the post from Phil but if you know the steps that would save me some time.

Thanks!

Thanks everyone for your advice!

I followed the steps Louise sent me and was able to upload a scorm course from Storyline into Moodle, tested it and got quiz results! Thank you again Louise.

I'm looking forward to your videos Joe since I am working on Moodle 2.4. Todd, I'll also check out lynda.com.

I really love learning through videos!

Thanks!

You can also search Moodle videos on Youtube which free to view the videos. One other thing as well, you might want to contact your web hosting provider or your IT Department depending on if your company is hosting Moodle or if you are paying a web hosting provider. Ask them to increase the Maximum File Upload size.

I had my web hosting provider increase my file upload size to 500 MB to allow for courses with video content that can take a great deal of space.

By the way, Todd. It really isn't creepy. It's SL2 That's got everyone smiling!

Meanwhile, I have successfully uploaded a SCORM 1.2 to my e-learning "sandbox" site. It works GREAT! This is my first attempt to build a Moodle-based site. Still just learning the Moodle (2.8) basics. Check out my site: http://opstrain.net/

  1. log in as guest/guest.
  2. Use the course search to find SALI. It's the only course currently available. This IS a learning project for me, too.
  3. Browse the course.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The attached video (MP4) shows how I upload the SCORM 1.2 project, into Moodle 2.8. Be forgiving as this is my first attempt to do this, too.

Don't you just love SL2?
