uploading articulate folder to presentation

May 01, 2017

Hello,

This is a double barrelled question. I started a new course design in articulate 3. I saved and published the part presentation to send to a colleague.

I have opened articulate 3 to continue working on the presentation but it is not available for me to open. I tried to upload from the folder I published  but it does not show the links, only folders with nothing in them.  If I go to the folder itself I can click on the HTML file and the presentation opens, but this is not there when I go to upload it to articulate . Can anyone help? Do not wish to start again as the opening slide had a lot of work on it.

Hello Chris and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

Sounds like you were on a good start there. Sorry to hear that you ran into trouble.

You want to utilize the project file, which is not within the published output. While you were working on the project, where did you save that? The file type will be .story.

Hopefully you saved the file, but if not, there may still be a working version of your project in your temp files. Here's how to check:

1) Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline

2) Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.

3) Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.

4) Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.

Dear Leslie

Thank you for your reply.

This is the type of file extension I have after I saved story.html

Regards
Chris

Hello Chris - If you've attached something here, I am unable to see it. Looks like you may have replied via e-mail. This does two things - attaches your signature and keeps attachments from coming through :)

You are welcome to utilize the 'Add Attachment' option within the forums if you wish.

Have you opened up your software to see if you have the project file listed there under recent items perhaps?

Hello Christopher,

That's what I was afraid of, that looks like one of the links from your published output.

You would want to be sure to upload your published output to it's intended environment depending on how you set that during publish.

A project file cannot be created or extracted from published output.

Did you check to see if you had the file within your temp files as I shared above?
