'User must pass each quiz' - Issue

Feb 19, 2019

Situation: I have 7 knowledge check points throughout my course. I have results slide for each of them with different Passing Scores (details below). At the end of the course I have a results slide (named Course Assessment Results) that calculate the results for all the above results slides and I have set 'User must pass each quiz' as the passing criteria. The screenshot of Results Slide properties of this last results slide is what I have included here. I have selected this 'Course Assessment Results' slide for passing results to the LMS.

Problem: When I score a 100% for all knowledge checks - no issues - i get the 'Success' layer of the Course Assessment Results slide. But when I score the minimum score required to pass each knowledge check, I end up in the 'Failure' layer of the Course Assessment Results slide.

Since I set the criteria as 'User must pass each quiz', i am hoping that the users have to only pass each knowledge check. Am I missing something here.

Hello, Sayuj!

Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. I'm seeing the same problem you're seeing in Storyline 360.

Let me do some more digging to find out why this is happening. If this is a bug, we'll get it reported so we can begin looking at next steps.

If we find a workaround, I'll come back to let you know!

Thanks Alyssa. I think the problem could be the 'score' mentioned below the setting 'User must pass each quiz'. I know this doesn't make sense since the option to 'Combine points' is disabled. But looks like Storyline is still branching out to the 'Failure' slide based on this score. It was at 80% default. If I would have used this option, the pass score would have been just less than 78% (based on my passing score for each knowledge check). So I reduced this score 70% or something and then it worked fine. Please check and let me know if you are able to replicate the same thing. It is possible that my case was just a coincidence.

Scoring Issue?

Hi Sayuj,

Yes, I'm seeing the same thing you're seeing. The strange thing is, I'm only seeing the bug in Storyline preview and in the HTML5 output. The Flash output works correctly.

I'm glad you were able to find a workaround, and I'll keep you posted on our progress with this bug. Here's an inside look at how we tackle issues like this once they are reported to us.

Hello Alan and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊

Thank you for reaching out for an update. The reported bug associated with this conversation is specific to the failure layer displaying, but the correct information is being sent to the LMS.

It sounds like you're experiencing something a bit different. I'd like you to share your project file with our support engineers to investigate what's happening with your permission. You can share it privately by uploading it here. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete.
