Hi Ken! This is not something that is built into Storyline. It was a feature that was available in Studio '09, but is not available in Studio '13 either.
Perhaps a creative solution, simulating closed captioning, by a community member will assist you.
Hi Chris! If you are using the built-in notes in Storyline, you could always move it to the top left or top right of the player. Then it would not be taking up real estate in the sidebar and would only be shown if the user selected it.

I just now discovered this shortfall. It's a real bummer - we really need this window-toggle ability. :(

Right, but then when the learner toggles it on it overlays the content on the main screen. Not very effective.
