Using an icon hand for drag and drop

Dec 18, 2020

Hello all,

Sorry it's my first post so I'm sorry if it seems like a simple question...

I'm looking to produce an interaction for medical staff to gain skills in fitting a device into a patient.

It is possible to use an icon (a hand) as the mouse pointer for drag and drop? In my head.. I'm looking for the users to use the hand to move the device and other objects onto the patient's head.

Hey there Mark!

Appreciate you reaching out to the E-Learning community and sharing this!  No apologies needed as we're all learning here, and looking to help a fellow human out whenever possible!

What version of Storyline are you using?  If you're not sure where to find this, open Storyline, go to the Help tab on the ribbon and click About Articulate Storyline. From there, you can see your version details on the screen that appears.

You can definitely customize the cursor in Storyline and I'm hoping one of these articles will provide some direction to help you achieve your goal!

You might also want to check out this article about Freeform Drag and Drop as another way of doing this, along with this thread.  One of the support staff included an example to download!  The download in that thread is an older version so I updated it and attached it in this post for you :)

If you don't mind sharing, I'd love to hear if this info helps out or not.  Fingers crossed it helps!
