I just want to be able to save my screen recording as separate video file so that I can insert it into an article on our intranet. Is there a way to do this, like I used to be able to do in Screenr?
I'm yet to use Replay. However, for some of my recent projects I used Active Presenter to capture my onscreen activities, edit those in terms adding captions or call outs, and save that as a single MP4 file. Then I insert the video file to my Storyline slide.

I know you can if you use Replay to record it.

As mentioned here, Replay is a great screencasting tool.
I'm not following what you are needing exactly, or if it's just that you need to be able to export your screen recordings perhaps?
You can export screencasts from Storyline as MP4 videos, or you can save individual frames as PNG images. See this tutorial for details.
