Variable triggers jump to slide

Oct 14, 2015

I have set up triggers when a user clicks certain buttons in slides it marks my allocated numbers, 1, 2, 3 and 4 TRUE.

I have 4 different scenes, and in each one is a button to mark the corresponding numbers to TRUE.

I have a slide set up to navigate to 2.1 when user clicks next button if 1, 2, 3 and 4 are TRUE and to go to 1.2 otherwise.

I can mark 1, 2 and 3 TRUE and goes onto slide 2.1 and doesn't seem to matter about number 4

I have checked all the variables etc and cannot seem to work out what is happening.

Any help would be much appreciated thanks.

Hi Wendy,

I am not sure how to upload a story, I am only new to using this.

I have attached a screenshot if this helps understand?

I have the 2 slides at the top, on the second slide they need to select the draws in the filing cabinet, each one takes them to a different scene.

Once they have accessed all I want it to take them to a page at the bottom of the screen.

I did it in another presentation with 3 and worked, however in this one I have added a 4th one and now if I access the 3 it goes straight to the last slide without doing the 4th one.

Having the variable trigger when you click the next button I think may be the issue.  I have put all the variable references on the slide 1.2 so you can see what happens when you return to the filing cabinet which ones have triggered to True.

If still not right let me know happy to try and help but can you supply the answers to all the questions so whoever helps can run through it quickly.

I just changed it to say True when 5.11 timeline starts, worked through the filing cabinet, skipping this scene and went straight to last slide before going back to do this one.  Not sure what it would be, I think it is something to do with telling them which slide to go to as there wasn't an issue with marking it as true.

Sorry...what is 5?

Maybe I am misunderstanding what you want.

I thought you had four variables. 1,2,3,4.

When the learner clicked the buttons as per your instructions below the variables were triggered to True.

Scene 3 LSP, Slide 3.13, Button 1 - Variable 1 is triggered to True

Scene 4 Focus of Care, Slide 4.8, Picture 4 - Variable 2 is triggered to True

Scene 5 Mental Health, Slide 5.11, Next button (this is the one it seems to be skipping) - Variable 4 is triggered to True

Scene 6 RUGADL, Slide 6.13, Button 1 - Variable 3 is triggered to True

I understood you only wanted the learner to go to slide 2.1 if All 4 variables (1,2,3,4)  had been triggered to True - otherwise you were sending them back to slide 1.2.

So if 1,2,3 are true but they haven't been to Scene 5 yet (Variable 4 not true)  - they'll go back to 1.2 to click the Scene 5 drawer

If 1,2,3,4 are true they should go to Slide 2.1 when you click next if all the variables have been triggered to true.

It's hard for me to test it a) because there are so many slides and b) I don't know the answers to all the questions.  If you want to list the answers to the questions so I can actually get through the entire project I am happy to try and help you.

Yes that is correct, sorry I typed the wrong numbers.

What you wrote is correct however if 1,2 and 3 are TRUE and 4 should be FALSE as I haven't viewed the slides yet it is taking me to 2.1 when it should be going back to 1.2

I have set up the variable, that it should go to 1.2 if 1 is not equal to true and so on for all ending slides.  Will test it now and see how I go.
