Variables on buttons - continues to add to total if "selected" state button chosen
Jan 07, 2020
I am building a project that allows users to choose their path by selecting from multiple buttons. The goal is to show the section as "complete" when the count reaches 6 of 6. The user is allowed to go back into a section if they want to review it - but that subsequent visit should not be added to the count. I have the buttons in "normal" mode with a variable that is to add "1" when the user selects it - there is a Condition "if the state of <<the button name>> = "normal". So, in my mind, because the state changes to "selected" after the first click, subsequent clicks should allow the user to revisit that path but the count won't change. That's not the case - it continues to add, and add, and add...
What am I missing???

Hi Rodger,
Happy to help! Instead of the Selected state, try using the built-in Visited state, as it contains functionality that might be better suited to viewing a section and returning to the menu.
Let me know if that works for you!
Hi Ren - and thanks very much for your assistance. I had read something about the built-in buttons so thought maybe there was enough difference in the Visited button option and I tried that after you replied. Unfortunately, it also produced the same results but you sent me down the right path! FYI, I made a custom-built button...and it worked! Weird that Storyline triggers are being impacted by the built-in buttons but you helped me get around that glitch! Thanks, Ren!
Hi Rodger,
You're welcome, and glad to hear you were able to find a fix for your interaction as I'm sure it'll help others come across this situation!
