Variables on LMS - Size Issue!
Sep 03, 2012
Hey Guys,
I have this storyline course where it has 9 chapters (9 menu items) with each chapter having around 10 pages. Client wanted menu to be marked visited once all the pages of chapter are viewed. User can jump to any menu item and I know how to code this using variables for each page.
My question is:
When this course goes live on LMS (Scorm 1.2) all the variables wud be stored in lesson_location or suspend_data and both of these variables have some size limits. Can somebody please explain me if we have any specification on teh number of variables to be used in a particular course in storyline ?

You could shorten the string length of the variables, or you could hack the LMS to increase the length of scorm data being stored
I appreciate this is an old post, but people may be running into similar problems. Tin Can API could be the answer here. See this more recent question for more details: https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/getting-storyline-variables-out-of-an-lms#reply-279315
Thanks so much for your input and for the link, Andrew! I am sure it will be helpful to those who comes across this post. :)
