I have a video I am using as an intro, it is 10 seconds long. After the video is done I would like some text to appear on the slide. The issue I'm having is when I insert the video it makes the timeline 10 seconds and does not allow me to place anything AFTER that 10 seconds. If I try to extend the timeline it also extends the video. How do I have a video play, but then have the timeline keep going to allow for other things to happen on the slide after the video?
There's an arrow on the end of the video timeline that sets it to show until end. Right click on the video in the timeline and turn of show until end. You can extend the timeline and move the text into place.
Another option (just as an alternative)
Hide the text as its initial setting in states.
Change the state of the text to normal when video ends.
