Video looping

Sep 22, 2017

Hi -

I'd like to put a short video in and have it loop continuously until stopped. I can't find the normal controls I use to do this in ppt - can I do it in Articulate Storyline 2?

thanks for any help

Hi Chris,

You need to add two triggers to do this.

1st trigger:

Action: Play media
Media: Select the name of your audio or video file
When: Timeline starts
Object: Select the slide

Trigger1

2nd trigger:

Action: Play media
Media: Select the name of your audio or video file
When: Media completes
Object: Select the name of your audio or video file

trigger2

I have created and attached my .story sample here.

Hope it helps!

Thanks,

Hi Chris,

My bad, the .story I've shared was created in SL 360 and it can't be opened in SL2 which I believe you are using right now. But you can still use the published output from a trial version of SL 360.

Anyways, you can create one yourself by following the instruction I've just shared to you. Just import the video you want and use that two triggers.

Thanks

Ok - so this worked to have the videos loop, thank you!

However, I then added audio to my slides, recording with the microphone. The audio previews fine, but when I go to publish it, the audio now cuts off after the first loop of the video. This only happens on slides where I have the looping video. Is there any way to ensure the audio is published completely with the looping video?

Many thanks for any help!

Chris

Hi Chris,

Strange that it works fine during preview but it gives you trouble after publishing.

Is this published output hosted on a web server or a learning management system? If you're testing the content locally, you may be encountering security and browser restrictions. So uploading it to SCORM Cloud (for LMS) or Tempshare (for Web) ensure that you can view the content as expected!

If you would like some help with testing, simply attach your file to a new thread comment, and I'll take care of the rest!
