Video not playing and unable to save project on ipad
May 18, 2012
I just opened a project on iPad using the Articulate Player app. The project was stored on a local server rather than the Articulate tempshare server. The project opens with the App but the videos don't play. Also, when I try to save the project to view off line, I receive an error message that the project cannot be saved since some files cannot be found.
When I save it through tempshare, it works fine.
Not sure why this is happening. I did look in the Project output folder . . . when I opened the story_content folder, the videos are all there. However, when I open the "mobile" folder, the video files are not there - only a .jpg image of the video file. I tried copying the actual video files from the story_content folder into the mobile folder, but still didn't work. I don't know if the mobile folder is the one being downloaded on ipad but, if so, it seems like the videos aren't being linked to. Any help or guidance?
Thanks

Hi Devon.
Are you accessing the content via a valid HTTP address? If not, upload the content to a web server and then try.
Yes. It is a valid address on our institutional education web server.
Is the address an HTTP address? What does the address say in your address bar? Like is it:
http://www.yourdomain.com/your_content/storyline.html
I tried both of these addresses. I didn't know which file launches it on the ipad. The videos didn't run with either.
Hi Devon.
So the address you should use would be the story.html file. Can you please tell me what the videos are? Are they MP4 files?
The original video files are .avi files. When I look in the story_content folder after publishing, the files look like they have been converted by Storyline to mp4 files. I don't see any files in the mobile folder (I don't know if that matters or not).
Hi Devon.
Can you please send us your .STORY file here and we will try to help you out.
Hi All,
Was this ever resolved? I think i'm having a similar issue outside of the articulate player.
Thank you
Hi Nekia. Can you please submit a case so we can help you out?
Hi Justin. I already have a case in and I was sent the article on make sure the file type was enabled on the server. That isn't the problem for me. I think its the how the file is being coverted so i'm still having issues.
Hi Justin. I am still having the problem. I just submitted the case.
Thanks,
Devon R
i'm uploading my file with the case number. Thanks in advance for your help.
Hey guys,
did any of you resolve this issue?
I have the same problem with a course, videos won't play. I've uploaded it to tempshare, it works on a laptop, but on my iPad with the articulate player app it's another story...
i hope the issue has been resolved, considering this thread is half a year old one could hope so
Eilert
Hi Eilert,
Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with this. I took a look at the past cases and it looks like the issue was resolved. Are you able to share a link to the published version, so I can take a look on my iPad?
Thanks!
Christine
I've sent you a pm
As many others have stated, I'm curious what the solution is. This thread would be a great place to post the answer so everyone with the same concern could learn from it.
Hi Dean and welcome to Heroes!
I took a look at a few of the cases mentioned - and there didn't seem to be a common thread, hence no update here. In the most recent case, it was an issue with uploading the published output to a server and not keeping the files together in a single published folder.
If you could tell us a bit more about what you're experiencing and the set up your using (publish to web vs. LMS, testing on iPad version and iOS version, etc.) that would help narrow down which issue was the most similar to yours. Also, please feel free to share your .story file here with us so that we can take a look.
