In my course, the learner views a video then has to take a quiz. I'm using a scroll bar in the player as requested by the client. I prefer using the video controls on the video because it keeps track of the length of the video.
Is there away I can display the timer/time on the slide without using the video controls on the video?

Very simple solution: You can cover the unwanted portions with an object like a rectangle and then color it as you need for your design.
I also add an additional colored rectangle behind the video to make everything look "neat" and "together."
