Video subtitles not working in html5 version of Storyline course

Sep 18, 2013

We are using videos which need to have subtitles in a Storyline course.  The videos are held on YouTube and in the flash version of the course the videos display the subtitles as required (inserting the videos as web objects and using the parameter for subtitles: cc_load_policy=1).

However, we have also built a separate version of the course for use on tablets (using the publish for mobile/html 5 option) and inserted the same web objects with the same parameter for subtitles.  When previewing the slides in the course the subtitles appear fine but when launched on our LMS and viewed on an ipad the videos play without the subtitles.

Any ideas why this is and/or how to fix it?

Many thanks

Katie

Good Afternoon, K.

Google's Developer site has the following to say about this behavior:

...the HTML5 player does not currently support the cc_load_policy parameter, but you can still specify that parameter when creating an IFrame embed. If the embed loads the [Flash] player, the player will support the parameter, and if the embed loads the HTML5 player, the player will ignore it.

...sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
