Videos and PDFs don't load.
Mar 13, 2015
Dear all,
I am a relatively new user building courses with Storyline using ILIAS as LMS. Is I can't get on with my troubleshooting I'd like to post the two issues I am working on.
1. I don't get the embedded videos to run. The whole slide the video is embedded in doesn't load. Neither in the preview, nor in the published version. So the whole module is stuck at the point where the user is supposed to view and analyse the video. I have tried mp4 and wmv.
2. I want to supply the users with texts (PDFs). Neither using a trigger connected to the file, nor using the resources function does work with the published module.
I publish as follows:
LMS: HTML-5 output activated
report: SCORM2004, 3. Edition, passed/failed
tracking: resultslide
Thank's for having me here!
Tim

Hi Tim
I can get the pdf from the resources link to open fine. I can't get to the video though as the menu is locked down and I don't speak german and can't progress past slide Babys lernen ganzheitlich. I used FF and opened the story.html file.
Why don't you upload it to www.scormcloud.com and test it there.
I would check you have MP4s enabled as a mime type on your server, doesn't matter what format you insert they will be converted to MP4s
Hi Tim,
I was not able to open the presentation. Could you share the .story file here? And as Wendy suggested you can test on the SCORM Cloud.
Hello, hello!
Thank you so much for your approaches. Sure, I'll be glad to share the .story file and I will give SCORM Cloud a try!!
Hello Tim,
I ran this through the SCORM Cloud, could you test this here? I did see that the pdf file was showing an error. It stated that the resource was no longer valid or had been moved.
Hello Emily,
I tested it on SCORM Cloud and the same issues occurred. No file and no video slide. The video and the PDF are in the story_content folder of the output. So I guess that I made right at least. :D Might it be an issue with the LMS rather than what I set up in the program?
Hello Tim,
I took a look at the file again, and the restriction is set to locked, which mean they will have to watch the entire timeline before moving to slide 4.2. The timeline on 4.1 was over 800 seconds. Once I changed this, you can jump to the video slide with no issue. Can you test the scene here?
Emily! Thank you so much! I simply did not see this. I was pretty sure, that the problem would be rather my settings than the program but this was actually kind of stupid! :D I didn't know I set the restriction to locked. One thing off my list! Thank you!
Glad to help Tim!
Not sure how the timeline got so long on that slide, but I have seen that occur before, sometimes from duplicating the slides, or adding images in. Hopefully it won't happen again :)
