I have made a recording that I have successfuly inserted into my story in video, Try and Test mode. However, when I try and insert it as "View Mode", it just doesn't insert. It appears as if it's going to says "creating slide 1 or 15" and then suddenly closes. Has anyone experienced this? I don't know what else to do anymore!
I haven't seen that before - are you inserting it into the same project/same scene? Have you confirmed that you're working on local project files as described here? If not, you may want to try importing it into a new project file as described here.
What happens when you try and insert the view mode into your Storyline course? Have you looked at importing the .story file into a new project to see if there was something off within the file itself? If you'd like to share the .story file here I'm also happy to take a look and see what occurs when trying to insert the screen recording into the file as a "view mode".
After I select the View mode to be inserted, it shows loading and creating slides and then when it is over, no view scene is created in the story file. I did import the story file into another project and the same results.
Thanks for the update and letting us know you tried importing it into a new project. It's definitely not the behavior I'd expect and as such it sounds like something may be off in the file itself. Have you looked at testing a screen recording on a brand new file to see if you can successfully import that? You'll also want to confirm that you're working on local project files as described here, as working off a network/shared drive could cause latency issues with the file.
If you're able to share privately, our team is happy to take a look at it here. All files shared are kept confidential and if needed they'll be happy to sign an NDA you've sent.

Sorry Ashley, I cannot share the .story file.
With no solution to this issue, I had to recapture the simulation using Captivate. :(
