Visited state reverting to the normal state after clicked

Feb 04, 2019

Hello,  I have a slide with five objects on the left which have triggers to layers with explanations.  I'd like them to change and remain in the visited state after the user clicks on them.  They revert to the normal state immediately after the mouse moves away. I've tried using the selected state and a custom state.  I've reviewed the tutorial and it appears the state should remain.  Attached is a picture of what I am seeing. How do I fix this?

Hello Pat and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know what you are running into.

The visited state is a built-in trigger, so you should not need to add a trigger to adjust it, but I am curious about the reverting back that you mentioned.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

Thank you for your help.  I have created a short  project with only two slides.  The first has two objects that work as they should on a simple blank slide.  The second slide is from our templates.  It has the same two objects, but the visited state reverts to the normal state as soon as the  user clicks away.  It looks like the shape has the problem, but the text box is OK.

You will see that I have manually entered triggers - I know they are not necessary - but that is how I built my earlier slides with the same result.  I'd really like to discover what is wrong, so I can fix it in the future.  THANK YOU - I'm brand new to storyline.  One more detail - The visited states problem started after I updated my version of storyline.

P.S. I was able to remedy my problem earlier by copying slides that were working properly from earlier projects and rebuilding them with new content, so the problem slides no longer exist.
