WCAG 2.1 Accessibility in Storyline and Tab order

Oct 22, 2021

Good morning heros

First question, are tab order and focus order the same thing?

I have tested my course over and over to ensure if has the right tabbing order when using your keyboard and Jaws.  However my course when uploaded to Review 360, and tested with the Jaws reader, does not functional well.  infact, it seems to strip all my accessibility work that I have done on the Focus order and alt text.  Can someone help me understand what happened or what I am doing wrong?

Thank you

Hello Nadine, and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊

  • Are tab order and focus order the same thing?
Not exactly, but tab order is included in focus order. The Focus Order window controls the tab order of interactive objects, such as buttons and markers, as well as the reading order for non-interactive objects, such as text and images.

With regards to the testing of your accessible content, I would recommend testing in its intended environment. Screen reader users typically use the up and down arrows to move through content on the slide and this will include all of the items in your focus order.
