If you are viewing the published output on your local machine, the web objects likely won't show up. If you place the content on a web server, you'll likely see the web objects appear.

I'm now faced with a new issue. When i view this course via the ipad, I fail to play/pause the embedded web object (its a Camtasia file rendered as a mp4/HTML5 output). Do we have a work around for this?

It may be a limitation in Mobile Safari, and you can see some details about that here.
There are some helpful FAQs in this tutorial as well.
It could also be an issue because your slides may be set to advance automatically as explained here.
