Web Objects: other elements not showing up
Apr 10, 2014
Has anyone had an issue using a web object to load a web page and then tried to have a button or call out show up on top of the web object? I have tried to do this explicitly (put a button on the same page as the web object) and via a layer (created a trigger that should have shown the button after a few seconds).
When I publish it to my local drive, I get the web object to work but the button never shows up!
When I preview the project, the web object does not work (as expected in preview mode) but the button does!
I recall this being an issue in another forum post last year but I never found out if Articulate had addressed this issue.

Hi Pedro,
The button is likely still sitting behind your web object (seeing in it preview would make sense since the web object won't display). There is also a known issue right now where player elements may appear behind your web object, is that the issue you were thinking of?
Ashely,
Yes that is exactly what is happening. I have attached a sample file and I am very bummed about not providing additional call outs or an exit button on a web object screen (I wanted to provide a "full screen" experience).
I take it there is no fix for this yet?
Hi there Pedro,
Ashley is out of the office today, but I wanted to answer your most request question.
Correct, this is still the case - Web Objects appear over slide content. However, you can adjust the position of both the web object and the button if you'd like to show them both on the slide at the same time. For example, you could provide some additional space on either side, or above/below the web object, then place the button so that it's not over the area that will load the external content.
We'll be sure to provide additional information on this, when the information's available.
In the meantime, I recommend following us on these sites:
Thanks!
Christine,
Thanks! That is the route I took for that particular project.
Still, it's shame I could have a guided tour of a webpage using objects right on top of the web object. I will put in a feature request if it helps.
