Webobject not working
Apr 26, 2019
Hi Heroes,
Our learners tend to get confused when we include links to outside resources because when they click such links, the new link opens up in a new window or tab (not necessarily on the browser window they're using to view the course), and it seems to them that the course has been closed and they have to start again. Ugh.
So we're trying to open all external links in a lightboxed webobject instead. But I am getting inconsistent results: sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.
I've uploaded a simple 2-slide example. All I'm trying to do here is:
- When the learner clicks the Check Status button, it opens a lightbox with a webobject that should display http://status.lbl.gov.
But instead, it opens a lightbox that seems to be totally blank.
Here's the lightbox slide:
Here's the Edit panel for this webobject:
And here's what I see when I publish to Articulate Review and click the Check Status button:
Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong? Other web pages work OK using this same method (though some others don't--it's very frustratingly inconsistent).
My *.story file is attached and the published version is here: Lightbox WebObject Test. I'm using the latest version of Storyline 360 (v3.26.18601.0).
Thanks!

Hi Matthew,
Good question! I tried it and you can see the results here: Https Webobject Test.
It did change the results somewhat, but it still isn't working. Here's what I see:
Cheers!
This is an issue with the site security and the publisher not allowing it to be displayed in a frame. That is, you cannot display in a slide or a lightbox - tested both. Any chance you can check with the web designer? (see the message attached).
Thanks Ray. That is good to know. I've reverted to just linking directly to that site, which works.
Cheers!
