What might cause simulations to crash dependably? - URGENT

Jun 06, 2017

With only a few days to go until my deadline, and many deliverables left to complete, the scene with the simulations within my Storyline 2 module is causing it to crash consistently. It simply cannot preview or publish. If I take out the scene with the simulations, everything is back to normal.

What kinds of things can cause simulations to crash? Please advise ASAP!  I created these from screen recordings as Try Mode and View Mode on multiple slides, but then I had to modify them.

Thank you for any help you can give me!

Hi Ellen.  I'm sorry you're feeling the heat!  It sounds like there is some corrupt element in that scene that is causing preview and publish to fail.

First, if you can share your .story file here with us, we can help you test it out.  If you need to keep it private, use this form.

If you can't share your file, what I do to find a corrupt element is use a process of elimination.  You're ahead of the game because you identified the scene.  Now we need to whittle it down further.

Try to preview individual slides within the scene.  If you can identify a single slide that won't preview, start removing layers and/or objects and then trying again to preview.  I know it's tedious, but it works to identify what needs to be removed/rebuilt.  Sometimes it's something as small as a text box.

We're happy to help!
