When is Articulate Storyline going to fix the ridiculous Hover/State Problem?

Oct 16, 2023

What function does it serve for multiple states being active at the same time? It seems incredibly counter-intuitive to me that a hover state should even be active when an object is selected. Even when I've added a trigger for the selected state to override the hover state, you can still briefly see the hover state's object when you first click on the object and activate the selected state.

1) Objects in the normal state shouldn't necessarily appear in other states. A very obvious idea that should be implemented

2) Multiple states shouldn't be functioning at once

Who knows if Articulate will ever address this incredibly counter-intuitive design??

I am having the same issue. this is such a basic function of Storyline, that my work has stalled...

I'd appreciate an updated response from Articulate to this issue. Rather than pushing each individual designer to support, please respond to this (and/or multiple other) posts about this issue with a solution. If none (yet), just let us know!

Hi Edward & Beth!

Thanks for sharing your feedback on the functionality of Hover States! Sorry to hear this has been such a pain point for you both!

Our development team is closely tracking a feature request that would allow Hover states to only show items on the Hover State. I've included you both in the feature report so you can be notified as soon as we have updates to share! For your reference, here's a deeper look at how we manage feature requests.

In the meantime, I found a related discussion where another user shared a workaround you may find helpful!
