Workaround for Chrome XHR Grading issues in Canvas?

Hi! I am looking for ideas to workaround the grading issues that the Chrome 80 XHR update has caused for SCORM integrated into Canvas. I've been running a Canvas-based training program for the last 2 years that has never had a grading issue before this update (9 modules published to SCORM 2004 4th ed. tracked by the final quiz results slide at the end of the module), but ever since the update all completion grades are failing to update in Canvas. This has been super crappy for me as the administrator, and I have suggested everyone in the program update their chrome browser to ignore this change using the chrome://flags/#allow-sync-xhr-in-page-dismissal setting, but this only works if they also use the exit module button instead of closing their tab (which they don't always do). I have tried redesigning the completion trigger but nothing I've done will work unless the Chrome settings change has been done. They work fine in ScormCloud, just not in Canvas. 

I would love any suggestions for ways to work around the issue in my design or Canvas. Articulate has confirmed that my files are totally fine and that they should be unaffected by this issue (even though they clearly are) and Canvas has been extremely unhelpful. It may be an issue with my school not having the right version of the LMS running, I really don't know. I am pulling my hair out over here, thanks a lot for your help in advance!
