How can I trim a YouTube video, since it cannot be done using the Storyline video editor?

If you 'own' the video you can use your YouTube channel's Video manager tools to edit/trim a video. If you are linking to some YouTube video that you don't control, you can use parameters in the URL as described here: www.articulate.com/support/storyline/how-to-add-a-youtube-video-to-storyline#webobject to control the video, e.g. the start parameter.

Hi Cindy!

Looks like Michael has popped in to assist you here.

The following types of videos can't be edited in Storyline:

  • SWF movies can't be edited in Storyline. You'll need to use third-party editing software, then import the edited file into Storyline again.
  • FLV videos with alpha channel transparency can't be edited in Storyline. (Videos without transparency can be edited.)
  • Website videos (Screenr, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) can't be edited in Storyline.
