I am trying to figure out how to create a conversation in Storyline between two characters, but have the ability to let the user type responses and interact with an 'AI' character. Similar to how Chat Bots work, can this be done and if so how?
Please bear in mind my Javascript knowledge is very limited and I assume this is the avenue I will need to take.
I notice that your post is over a couple of weeks' old and you haven't yet received any responses, so I thought I might suggest a slightly different tack, which would at least provide some interaction between your users and the on-screen character. What's more, it doesn't require any Javascript as it is all achievable from within Storyline.
What you could do is to have your character start the conversation and then provide two or three optional answers for your user to select. The character could then respond with an appropriate answer determined by the user's selection and thus the conversation continues.
The attached file demonstrates the basics of how this could be achieved and you could add greater complexity with variables that could select either a male or female voice for the user, for example.
