AlterEgos(tm) - has anyone used this tool yet?

Aug 02, 2011

As someone brand new to Articulate and to this group, I was wondering if anyone out there has heard of this avatar-generating software? I have looked and looked for something like this, but everything else generated output that was all web-based. This is the greatest thing I've found so far and very easy to use and include in a course (creates FLV or SWF files). The mouth moves to your audio as well. I've just created an entire course where my avatar is the presenter throughout the course. I may be getting excited about something that everyone else is already doing, but I would like to know if anyone else is using it; and, if so, how?

If you haven't seen it yet, go to alteregos.com

Thanks for listening!

Hi Carla and welcome to E-learning Heroes!

I haven't tried AlterEgos, but I know it's been around for a while. Can you post your course with the example?

We've had some good discussions on using avatar-creation programs. In fact, Tom posted a great article last week on a free tool for creating talking avatars:

You May Already Own the Tools to Create Simple E-Learning Avatars

Here's a good thread that mentions several products:

Sure...I would love to share!  Is there a special way that I upload a course here?  Please keep in mind that this is my very first pass at creating a course using this software (just downloaded the trial version three days ago) and it has not gone through the second pass editing yet!  But...it does give you a good example of using this talking avatar.

I read through the AlterEgos forum and it appears that they are realizing that there is a whole group of people coming their way from the eLearning world and they are looking to focus more on this side of their business.

Thank you, David, for your quick response! This seems like such a great group that I can't wait for it to become part of my everyday life!
