Animated hands with marker?

Jul 27, 2011

Hi,

I had seen a course where a pair of hands are holding a notebook and then once texts appear on the notebook, the right hand disappears and come back with a maker in his hand and highlights a line of text on the notebook.

Does anyone know how to do this?

It would be done with a combination of motion paths on the hand leaving, a different hand coming back (that is a picture of  a hand holding a marker) and a motion path going over the text you want highlighted, while a yellow box wipe animates in BEHIND (so that the text is still visible) the text timed to go with the hand animation (you would have to keep tweeking till it looked good)

Kayla's answer pretty much covers it. I would add that the highlight wipe can be difficult to time with the pen/hand, but with patience it can create a great look. If you want to make it easier you can have the pen/hand graphic cover the highlighted line. Then as the pen/hand move using a motion path, it appears that the pen is highlighting the line. One thing I like to do to make it look more realistic is to use a custom drawn motion path so that the hand has a bit more movement in it.
