Worked fine yesterday to slice up larger video(mwn) into segments. I didn't finish yesterday and today,Video Encoder won't load. I get the following message:
Unhandled exeption has occurred in you applicaiton. If you click Continue, the application will ignore the error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the applicaton will close immediately. Root element is missing."
Should I try to uninstall and reinstall? Other recommendations?
First, you may just want to try restarting the machine. I know it sounds simple, but sometimes it can be a quick fix.
If you still receive this error after restarting, can you tell me a little more about your machine and when this happens? Does this happen when you launch Video Encoder, or when you try to open a file? Also, what operating system are you using?
Hi Christine, Thanks for responding. I just tried to repair Articulate Studio 09 per instructions on the help site. Re-installed 3 times (what the definition in insanity?) Rebooted my computer. Still get the same error message.
Happens when I try to return to previously loaded video, or reload the same video. Am on Intel (R), Windows 7.
Thanks for getting back to me! If it's happening with a video, are you able to see if you can open a different video? If it only happens with that video, make sure that the file is local. Try not to work off of any external sources, like network drives, USB drives, etc.
Also, can you tell me which article you read for the reinstallation steps, so I don't end up walking you through steps you've already taken?
Yes, file in on a local drive. Just tried to upload a much smaller mwv file - hour glass still spinning. The instructions I access were on Support, category - Installation, How to Repair Articulate Studio 09.
Instructions for repair were basically, Locate Art. Studio 09 Installation file. Run as administrator, select reinstall, the reboot computer. Caught in that loop. Keeps asking me to complete installation.
Thanks! Is this the article? I don't believe so, but I want to make sure. If you haven't followed the steps in that article, please find your operating system in the list and try the steps outlined for troubleshooting.
If that is the article you saw earlier and you've already tried everything listed for your operating system, please go ahead and submit a support case with our technical department. You'll be able to share a link in the case for this thread, so our support staff will be able to see what troubleshooting steps you've already taken. Also, if you can, please share the case number with me, so I can follow the case progress and update this thread.
Thanks very much, Deb. Hopefully we'll have this resolved for you soon!
The reinstall instructions in the article are the same as what I have already done. The puzzling part is that it worked so well yesterday, then wouldn't work at all today, so doesn't seem like it would be an operating system issue since it ran yesterday. Just checked and the much smaller video did upload. Guess I was surprised yesterday when the longer video uploaded. I'll experiment a bit more with other videos, then go to the submit a support case option is I can't make it work. Thanks.
