Auto-Launch a CD - help!

Aug 29, 2013

I created a menu for multiple presentations following the instructions here:  http://daveperso.mediaenglishonline.com/2009/05/12/create-a-menu-for-multiple-presentations/ and placed the published courses on CD. The course runs as it should but it doesn't auto-launch. You must press the Run Launch_Presentation.exe icon.

My client needs the CD to auto-launch. Any suggestions? Ideally if I can add a program to the CD rather than re-programming, that would be ideal.

Thanks in advance.

Hi RZ,

You will have to create an autorun.inf file for this and place it in the root directory of the CD. Assuming your published output is on the root as well, then :

In notepad type:

[autorun]
open=Run Launch_Presentation.exe
icon= {icon.ico filename}

Save the file as autorun.inf.

Note that Windows Autoplay has to be enabled on the clients that will run this CD.

Hope this helps,
Alex

Alex, thank you for the quick reply. I did in fact adjust my Windows AutoPlay settings and it will auto-launch now. (The autorun.inf file was already in place). But......my client does not want the Windows AutoPlay issue. Is there another way to 100% assure that the course will start when the CD is placed in the computer? I am open to outsourcing or 3rd party vendor products as well. I appreciate all thoughts.
