I'm trying to create a branching scenario where there are 5 different roles and if you click on one of them it goes to slides just for them. But at several different points each role performs the thing so they would use the same slides.
Check out this example I made for another user that I believe functions in the way you're wanting to achieve. You can tweak the behavior of the layers and buttons to meet your needs.

It depends on which program are you using. Are you working in Articulate Studio or Storyline?
Studio, but I think I figured it out. I had to duplicate some of the slides and add a navigation button on some slides.
