Creating a course Test-Out scenarior
Jul 31, 2020
Hello Storyline Peeps
My question for today is regarding creating a course test-out scenario. I know how to use the quiz/quiz bank in Storyline 360. But I am not sure if Storyline can actually do the following for me. Here are the details:
My course covers 5 different topics
(Topic A / Topic B / Topic C / Topic D / Topic E)
The quiz would ask the learner 5 questions on each of the topics above, in a random order.
If the learner achieves a passing grade (say 85%) for each topic, then they will pass the whole quiz and will have, therefore "tested-out" from the Course and can continue to the next course.
However, if the learner fails on a particular topic(s) they will be directed to complete the learning content associated with the topic then re-take the quiz just on that topic.
Has anyone created this type of quiz in Storyline (or in Rise). Looking to get some ideas/thoughts on how this could be achieved in Storyline (or Rise).
Thanks
Geraldine

Hi Geraldine! I had an idea as to how you could go about this and I've attached my source file here. It's a little bit convoluted so I also recorded a Peek for you on what I did!
Hi Elizabeth
Thank you so much! This is really awesome! I had a quick run-through of the video this morning, but I'm going to spend more time on it later today/tomorrow. It looks like it is exactly what I'm looking for!
I really appreciate you taking the time to look into this for me.
Cheers
Geraldine
Great way to use Storyline as an adaptive learning tool!
Hi Elizabeth
I'm spending today digging a little deeper into your demo :-) One thought I had is how/where could I put the variable that you have on the Incorrect layer (e.g. Set B1 to False when the timeline starts on this layer). I'm thinking that I don't necessarily want the learn to know if they got the answer right/wrong until the very end. I did just try and remove those layers and of course it broke it as it lost the layer variable!
Thoughts?
Thanks
Geraldine
Hi Geraldine! If you're not going to have correct/incorrect slide layers, you could still have that trigger for the variable. You'd just put it on the base layer to adjust the variable when the user clicks whatever button is incorrect.
