Delayed Start to my Audio

May 07, 2019

Several of my published courses have a "longer than I like delay" to  the start of the audio on the initial course screen. It's not terrible, but the timeline starts, but there's silence. Then the audio kicks in and the course progresses as designed. Any ideas?

Hi Cheryl,

The first thing I would check is that the timeline of the audio starts at the same time as the timeline of the slide. If not, that is the likely cause of your problems. If the timelines are okay, just check that there is no period of silence at the start of your audio.

If that's all okay, is there any chance you could share a copy of one of your Storyline files here as that would greatly assist is problem solving?

Ned's right - check to make sure that your audio is lining up right at the beginning.

Are you recording your audio directly in Storyline ? Take a look at your waveform (you can right-click the audio timeline and go to "Edit Audio" - you may see that there's a flat line at the beginning meaning it's silent (well, "silent") there... Highlight the flat line at the beginning and delete it, then check to make sure that everything you want remains (depending on the level of your audio, you may still have sound where there's what appears to be a flat line). If it's what you want, save it and close out of the Edit Audio screen.
