When I am in student view, and finish watching and taking the quizzes in the module, I receive an error message : " A fatal Error has occurred, communication with the server has been lost." This seems to prohibit adding the grade in the grade center. How do I fix this issue?
What you are describing is typically an issue between your computer's browser and the school's LMS (not the course itself). Not sure what system your school is using, but I would reach out to IT and/or the LMS administrator as a first step.
NOTE: Or are you using Articulate Online for your LMS and are asking a question about that?
It certainly might. Or at the very least it might help narrow down the issue.
Remember different LMS's use different methods to communicate.... some still need JAVA, etc. Trying another browser where the required plug-in/script may be enabled is often a quick work around.

I did, thank you. Would using another browser help the issue? No I am using Blackboard Learn as the LMS

The same problem occurs in Firefox, Chrome, and IE. Is there anything else I could try?
So sorry, but at this point I think you will need to work with your Sys Admin and/or IT from the school. Good luck.
Thank you.
