Feedback on my portfolio - made in articulate

Jul 20, 2011

Hello Heroes.

I have been working pretty hard on making a portfolio/website to showcase some of my projects. Most of what I work on is proprietary, but the small samples I make to show a point here, or the templates I make just to stretch my skills so to speak can easily be shared.

So I created this website entirely in articulate.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

(P.S I set the motion path of the pages switching to be "very fast" and have even tried republishing, but it always shows up really slow for me, if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix THAT it would also be appreciated.)

Thanks!

Very cool. The only thing I have to add is that it is my understanding that a flash/Articulate based site is extremely hard to find through search engines. For this reason, you may want to consider having a normal page for your start and then transition into this. It will make it much easier to achieve Search Engine Optimization. Otherwise, people can still find you with word of mouth and referals.

Kayla,

I'm quite sure that your creativity and your knowledge of Articulate Studio could lead you to a better organized website (good work, anyway!);

I suggest to change the html root page (the player.html you renamed in welcome.html adding a proper title: "website" is not cool...and keywords! to spider your desired arguments over search engine!

something like:

DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN" >

http://www.articulate.com  -->

You could simpy use notepad to do this....it is important!

hope it helps!

Awesome site Kayla! I too liked the paper animations and the sense that you are staying on one page while looking through all of the details. Using Articulate to create a flash-based website is a great idea. It wasn't until the advent of the ipad that Flash websites are now on the out. No matter...I just added a static image as an entry point to my articulate-based website for those without Flash - namely ipad users. I also added a note and link for an ipad app that lets you view flash sites like this. Check it out at http://stephanieharnett.ca/

Absolutely LOVE it.  Just LOVE it.  It loaded fine for me, quickly, no problems at all.  Bookmarking it.

Was there more than one freebie?

Per Joshua's point - I've never published a site in Articulate, but I can see that Kayla's site does have html headers where she can set her tags and keywords for SEO.  This should be easily accessible directly through the File Manager in GoDaddy - which is where I host my sites at also.

Definitely inspired, Kayla.  I'm going to practice this soon.  Thanks for sharing!

Stephanie, your site is awesome as well!!! Very creative!

May I ask where you got the office image - did you create it yourself?  I need to find similar type images for a course I'm working on, I need office backgrounds so I can build around them.

I'm so impressed, you guys rock!
