How to add Click to Launch a Video

Jun 20, 2012

Hi all,

I've been trying to figure this out on my own, but can't figure out the best way.

I am using Articulate Studio. I would like to have the user click on a box on a slide and for the click to trigger launching an mp4 video in another window or over the existing slide. (I do not want to play it in the small box on the slide because then the video would be too small to see).

After the video is finished playing, ideally, I would like the the video window to close and the learner to automatically go back to the slide they were on. If that is not possible, then I would like a navigation button the learner can click on to go back to the original slide.

Is this possible? What is the best way to do this?

Thanks,

Anna

Yes, I think you can do that.

You'll need to set up a hidden slide, where your video will play. I'll call this the "video slide."

When you click on the box in the original slide to play the video, set the box to hyperlink to the video slide, which would basically be a copy of the "launch" slide. Set your video file there how you want it arranged.

In Slide Properties, set the navigation for the video slide to return to the launch slide. Also, set the video slide to advance automatically when the video finishes.

If you place the hidden slide at the end of your presentation, when the user advances from the launch slide, the next screen will display.

I hope that helps!

Best Regards,

Dave
