How to track that all slides have been viewed in a non-linear course

Oct 04, 2018

We are having some issues with a non-linear storyline 2 course that we have built.

The client's LMS is showing that the course has not been completed even though when testing they have viewed all of the set number of specified slides.

I need to know how we can get the course to show as complete when the user has viewed most of the slides. I was thinking we have 2 options:

OPTION 1

We hand code variables onto the end slides of each section and the user can only view the final slide when all of the end section slides have been viewed. The issue with this is that the user may not know which sections they have and haven’t viewed so they wouldn’t know which sections to go back and view if the program won’t allow them to complete the course.

OPTION 2

We can add a button at the end that the user will need to press to navigate to the final screen and this interaction will show that the course is complete (results slide). However, the user may have reached this button without reading all slides by using a pop up navigation menu, therefore in reality they wouldn’t have viewed all of the sections.

Please could someone suggest if there is a way of fixing this?

Many thanks
Clare

If during your testing, you are positive that all the necessary slides have been viewed, then for the last slide of your course, make it a blank Result Slide and uncheck any questions it may list.  Also in the options of the result slide, make sure everything is unchecked.

And when you publish, have tracking based on the quiz result, not by number of slides viewed.

This way, no matter how many slides you view, if you get to that last slide, it should report a passing/complete score.
