I sit it inside a foldable fabric storage cube which is lined with pieces of corrugated acoustic foam.
For really quick projects I have also used a Logitech USB Headset H390 Noise Cancelling Mic with a foam windscreen tip, and get surprisingly good recording quality.
Just bought the Blue Yeti for $129 and it worked well. Sound quality was improved and there's multiple recording options. I also use a Logitech USB Headset for quick recordings that works well.

I am using a Blue Yeti USB mic. I `build`my own windscreen (out of some packaging foam), works nicely, good sound quality.
I did a blog post a while back with demos, the prices may have changed, but there are a few different mics. Also did one on some accessories.
I usually use the same as Michael on a swing arm. This is a decent deal with the Yeti and a swing boom for $199.
For most projects I use a Blue Snowball with a pop filter

I love the USB Samson Q1U. All my narrators use it. I've had the same microphone for 10+ years and it still produces crystal clear sound.
I've been using the Blue Snowball iCE USB Cardioid Condenser mic with a pop filter for years ($55 on Amazon). The sound is very clear.
