Is it possible to convert html to video DVD format?
Sep 28, 2011
Okay, I'm not even sure this is possible. I work with a physician who wants to show one of our Articulate WBTs at a conference. The problem is he insists that it be played via a television using a DVD in continuous loop. I tried to explain that this would not be the ideal medium for viewing the WBT, but he insists it must be played in this format. So, does anyone have any suggestions for how I can convert the Articulate output or HTML files into a video format playable on a DVD? Is there any software that can do this conversion?
Or is there another option? I know, the best option would be to set it up on a computer with the last page automatically braching back to the first for the loop effect; but he wants it on TV. I'm open to sugggestions. Thanks.

Hi Scott and welcome to E-learning Heroes!
It is possible and something a few users have done for various reasons.
You could use a screencasting program like Camtasia to record your presentation. Then, output that video as an .mp4 and produce on DVD.
You could also use a PPT-DVD utility to convert your PowerPoint file to DVD. Of course that would remove your Articulate-specific functionality and presentation templates you applied.
Here's a thread where some users discussed additional options.
Scott most TV now have a vga input, I would connect a laptop up to this and run it that way, or just record it via camtasia
You could try with Camtasia to record the presentation and then output .mp4 or some other format.
Then use DVD maker to copy them onto DVD. check the possible solution

Great tool to have in your tool collection
Here's another way it could work.
From the published Articulate output, each slide is a SWF file. There are any number of conversion programs available on the Internet that will convert SWF to MPEG (here's an example: http://techtips.salon.com/convert-swf-mpg-22271.html)
So you can convert each Articulate slide to an MPEG video file, then drop these clips in any video editor and render them as a single video file which can then be authored to a DVD.
Iin fact some video editing programs (Corel VideoStudio for example) can import SWF directly into the editor. What the final output quality would be I cannot say... and of course there would be no Articulate player, and Engage interations and quizzes would present their own problems.
