Just Starting Out

Mar 26, 2014

Hey, So I am just starting to make an e-course and a friend introduced me to this community.  What is step 1, getting the articulate software...how is this done?  What is it called and price? How do I hook it up to my wordpress site? Or how does it all work?

If there is someone also that could walk me through the beginning steps, then review the course I develop for feedback before I launch it... (I am not technical) or that I could hire (inexpensively...just starting out) to help me get started???  I have been teaching this work in person for six years and am now moving it online....

Sorry, I really don't yet know what I don't know and it feels so overwhelming to begin. I just need a little hand holding for the first few steps forward and then I am sure I will be find. THX!

Hi Carolyn,

Welcome to the E-Learning Heroes community.

There are community staff who do pick up these posts. The rest of us just like contributing and being helpful to fellow community members.

Now to start with you have a choice of two different tools. You can have a 30 day trial for each to get a feel for how you can create an e-learning course.

You can find both products and the trial here:

http://en-uk.articulate.com/

One piece of Articulate software is Storyline. (And most people here talk about it.)

So you can download the free 30 day trial and then try out the tutorials here:

http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/getting-started-with-articulate-storyline.aspx

That will give you a good understanding to begin building a course. In terms of setting it up in wordpress etc. I'll leave it to other community members/Articulate staff to explain.

If you'd like people here to review your course and provide feedback and ideas for improvement then you can always share with it the E-Learning Heroes Community and get some great help. (And by kind people giving their help for free. There are many here.)

Hope that provides a brief idea. Always feel free to ask a question here when you need help.
