Newbie to Storyline & Replay
Jul 08, 2015
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to Articulate Storyline and my supervisor would like for me to create a video that explains a software system that we recently purchased and walk them through the various modules in the software using Replay. I want it to be highly interactive and engaging. I have started creating in Storyline but I definitely need help please. The video is to be shown in two weeks and I'm doing the best I can. Thank you!!

I wouldn't use Replay. I would do a screen recording using Storyline. This way you can import it as a demo or try me scenario.
Jerson is right that Storyline would allow the learner to try tasks for themselves. As far as "engaging" goes, I suggest reminding users how the software will help them, what it will allow them to do. Also, try to chunk the sections so they are not too long. I know whenever I have some free time, the first thing I think of is catching up on all those software tutorials. Not....
This is a reminder for me- What exactly is replay good for? I haven't seen anyone post questions or samples of using replay. If this is something I can use for my production, please do tell the usability.
Replay is good for screen recordings. Allows you to insert text and graphics in such and also publishes out to MP4 format, which is convenient. Mike Enders has quite a few posts on using it. Try googling Mike Enders and Replay.

I did see the first one he did when replay came pout. I guess i'm trying to determine why would I use replay and not SL for screen recordings? Why did articulate decided to create replay if SL can do the same thing?
Good question. Replay publishes out as MP4, making it easier to upload to web. It also allows lower thirds and ability to add webcam in different sections of the screen. True, storyline can do a lot of this, but Replay does video better.

Thanks. I will give it a try. I can't believe I never thought of replay like that.
