Nicholas: the question was for course production referrals. The studio is looking for low-cost production based developers.

There's a common tension with that type of need, right? On one hand you need people skilled enough to work efficiently in Storyline but who charge low enough rates that make outsourcing feasible. On the other hand, the risk is hiring contractors who require more guidance and oversight to complete the projects. The cost is the extra time required to train and manage the outsourced contractors.

For pro developers, do you offer a white-label rate where you work for considerably lower rates than what you'd bill if you owned the project? If so, please add your info to the thread.

Can I just try and understand exactly what the company is trying to do?

Are they trying to expand, or are they trying to "outsource" - typically therefore to a significantly lower cost base/higher margin position for this low-level production?

Also - can you tell us, at least vaguely....where they are based?

These things have a bearing on who should apply. There would be no/little point (for example) me applying if they were already in the UK/Europe and looking to reduce their production cost base significantly, however, if they are UK/US-based, they may be able to achieve their aims by outsourcing to, for example, an Indian or Far East company who could guarantee appropriate turnarounds and production standards.

Really just trying to find out some more details here if they are able to be provided - it's a difficult one to answer otherwise! It looks like they are trying to stay anonymous, which I can appreciate or they may get bombarded with inappropriate "applications", however, if you can get them to tell us a little more I am sure it would help all round.

Good points, Bruce. They are US-based but I think they have a couple virtual offices.

They didn't specify anything about location-specific development, so I'm assuming they're open to anywhere.

Seems like this could be a good business for someone looking to project manage freelance developers.
