Randomizing question structure - Reciting Poems Project

Mar 23, 2015

Hello everyone. Happy to be here.

I'm working on a project course for memorization and recitation of poems.

I have some questions, hoping you can answer me. And hopes Articulate Storyline is able to do it.

- Each poem should appear in 4 Quizzing forms. Is there a way to give the student the option of choosing what type of Quiz he wants to practice - Then he will be shown only questions of this type?

- About Fill-in-the-Blank Quiz: I want the lyrics to appear on the screen and stop at some point, and then the student must complete the song to the end. But each  time, the song stops randomly elsewhere. Is it possible?

- About Fill-in-the-Blank Quiz 2: The lyrics on the screen will run until the end of the song, but missing only one word, and the student must complete the word by typing. Is there a way to randomize - each time a different word?

- Is there a way to store the songs in Question Bank, and then retrieve random passages, and ask the student to associate it to the correct Section?

- How to publish a project without Player constantly visible?

Sorry about the length, and thanks in advance for your precious time.

Hi Hceia,

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes! Here are my answers to your questions:

1. "Each poem should appear in 4 Quizzing forms. Is there a way to give the student the option of choosing what type of Quiz he wants to practice - Then he will be shown only questions of this type?"

You could do this by creating a menu slide where the user is asked to choose between the kind of question that they want, and then creating 4 separate quizzes. This method is fine as long as you don't need any sort of tracking since you are required to choose a single results slide to score in your LMS.

If you do need tracking, I would suggest creating each quiz in a separate .story file, and then creating a menu linking to the appropriate quiz.

2. "I want the lyrics to appear on the screen and stop at some point, and then the student must complete the song to the end. But each time, the song stops randomly elsewhere. Is it possible?"

You can create a Fill in the blank quiz for this, however it is not possible to randomize where the lyrics stop.

3. "The lyrics on the screen will run until the end of the song, but missing only one word, and the student must complete the word by typing. Is there a way to randomize - each time a different word?"

Same as above, unfortunately you cannot randomize and have a different word every time. You could, however, create a question bank with a bunch of different questions, each them stopping on a different word, and then have it draw a question randomly every time someone takes the quiz.

4. "Is there a way to store the songs in Question Bank, and then retrieve random passages, and ask the student to associate it to the correct Section?"

You could create a question bank and add a question for each passage. On the question slide, you could ask the learner to select the lyrics that go with the passage that was played.

5. "How to publish a project without Player constantly visible?"

To publish a project without the player, all you have to do is uncheck all the feature boxes in the Player Properties (see screenshot).

If you want to remove the prev/next buttons, just uncheck the appropriate boxes in the slide properties (see screenshot). You can do that for a bunch of slides at once by selecting them all in the Story View, and then unchecking the boxes.

I hope I've answered all your questions! Let me know if I can do anything more to help. :)
