I'm trying to record a screenr to support another user. The java detect keeps telling me I don't have it installed even though I do. I've even gone to the Java site where they have a detection tool that confirms I have the latest installed. (See below image)
I did notice a Java update this week on the Mac side. It could be that the site is not detecting the new version as valid. May want to submit a trouble ticket since I suspect this is something other folks are experiencing as well.
I'm just following up as I see that Vira sent you the following:
We are aware of the issue in Java Update 51 (latest Java release) and Screenr. Our Engineers are already looking into it and working for a fix.
I've heard from a few other colleagues that after removing and reinstalling Java everything behaved normally on their end, and I'm doing that myself right now so I'll keep you posted.
I got it to work (as you can see from the Screenr below). I had to configure my java settings. I set my security to medium and listed the screenr URL as a site that should access java. Not sure which of these 2 actions did the trick or if both are required, but the point is, I am up and running again.... thanks to me.
I should have mentioned. I first went through and uninstalled all the instances of java showing in my installed programs list. I then re-installed the latest version before performing the above steps. I am using Chrome and haven't tested this through I.E. 9 yet.
I had done all the uninstall and re install steps (as one of the other Support team members suggested to me) and still couldn't get Screenr to recognize even though Java was clearly installed. I then I had to follow Owen's steps, and now everything is working as expected for me (Chrome).
Owen, did you share this with Vira already? If not, I'll pass it along so that she knows your all set.

Title of the thread should be Java detect BLOCKING recordings .... instead of not blocking recordings...
Hey Own,
What's your platform? Are you on a Mac, by chance? Also, which browser are you seeing this in?
Windows 7
Seeing this on both Google Chrome and I.E. 9
I am experiencing the exact same issue. Any help on this would helpful...

Great - thanks!

Woohoo! Thanks for the update Owen, and your tips even helped me do my own repair quickly.
Thanks!
Happy to help.
Tx, Owen. Has anyone else (aside from Ashley's colleagues) had success?
IE and FF still no recognize my Java install (after making the changes Owen suggests). I even cleared FF cache and rebooted my PC.
Chrome still presents a warning prompt, but then DOES allow Screenr. However, upon recording (I did a 10-second test) it acts all funky.
The Screenr is uploaded, but I can't log in on the uploaded page that automatically appears.
I CAN log in if I start a new tab, but I don't see the Screenr.
I click Record Screenr on this new tab, at which point my previously recorded Screenr appears. And, I can then delete.

I did not.
Consider it done.
Thanks!
So, it's working for all of us in Chrome. IE? FF?
Can't speak for FF but it is working for me in I.E.9
Again, I completely removed java first, then re-installed, then configured java as shown.
It worked nicely for me too Win 7 and Chrome also Firefox Thanks.... you saved my life
Thanks for the update Refugio, and I'm glad it was able to work for you.
Thank you very much.
It worked.
What an example. Using screenr itself to show how it's issue was resolved
